Sharat Chandra Chattopadhyay is such a person who left a deep impression on people due to his words and some unforgettable writings, he considered West Bengal as good. A well-known writer, whose simple and straightforward style of writing, was a great ingredient for regular readers of that time to read. Sharat Chandra Chattopadhyay gave a new dimension to rural Bengal, which is still in vogue as a simplicity.

Childhood and Early Life:


Saratchandra Chattopadhyay was born on September 15, 1876, in Devanandapur at the Hooghly district of West Bengal. His dad was Motilal Chattopadhyay and mom was Bhubanmohini. Saratchandra spent most of his youth with his mom at her family's house at Bhagalpur, Bihar, from where he passed the University Entrance examination.

Even though he also attended college for around two decades, he couldn't finish the research. In age 27 he moved to Burma and found a job as a clerk at a government office in Rangoon. He abandoned Rangoon in 1916 and settled, initially at Baje Shibpur, Howrah, near Kolkata

And then, about ten decades after, he transferred to his house in Samtabed, a village on the banks of the Rupnarayan. Sometime before his departure he had built a second house in Kolkata.

Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay is regarded as a writer, who knew that the Bengal villages the ideal. His works have a rural character, as it talks about the simple day to day life tales of their families, residing far away in the towns in the tranquility of nature, developing older one of the rivers, rivers and plantation lands. 

He composed of the girls very highly and spoke in their position in a patriarchal society honestly and frankly. He voiced his protest against the societal discrimination, injustices, and superstitions that went in the name of faith.

Career:

His first publication 'Bindur Chhele'(1913),''Parinita'(1914),''Baikunther will'(1916),''Devdas'(1917), Popular books. His publication'Pather Dabi' (1926), was nevertheless, banned from the British authorities for its revolutionary subject. 

For kids, he composed a Collection Of stories and books, including the popular'Ramer Shumati' along with the brief Tales about'Lalu and his buddies'. A High Number of films that are successful have been created and are still created on his tales, specifically,'Devdas','Parinita', 'Srikanta' etc.

In several Indian languages,  his book especially Devdas made into eight Models, from Bengali, Hindi into Telugu, Parineeta been created double, Majhli Didi in 1967, by Hrishikesh Mukherjee and Swami in 1977, for which he was awarded Filmfare Best Story. 

Flims and Major Works:

There was another movie based on his novel is Nishkriti, Apne Paraye in 1980, by Basu Chatterjee, starring Amol Palekar. The Telugu film Thodi Kodallu in 1957, is also based on this novel. Gulzar's 1975 film, Khushboo is majorly inspired by his work entitled Pandit Mashay. 

The Telugu film Vagdanam by Acharya Atreya in 1961, is loosely based on his novel Datta. Also the 2011 film Aalo Chhaya is based on his short story, Aalo O Chhaya.Srikanth 1917, 1918, 1927, 1933, Datta 1917–19, Pather Dabi 1926,  Nishkriti, Mej Didi  Dhare Alo,  Shesher Parichoy,

Another famous film is Chhoti Bahu in 1971, is based on his novel Bindur Chhele. His Novel 'Datta' was adapted into a Bengali film (1976) starring Suchitra Sen and Soumitra Chatterjee in the lead roles.

Death:

Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay found liver cancer and he died on January 16, 1938, When he died there was a heavy loss to Bengal literature.
